About CRID Publishing

CRID Publishing is the publishing division of the Center for Research Innovation and Development (CRID), a Bangladesh-based organization committed to promoting academic excellence, research dissemination, and innovation-driven development.

Founded with the vision of creating accessible, inclusive, and high-quality platforms for scholarly communication, CRID Publishing supports multidisciplinary research across a wide range of academic and professional fields. It publishes journals, conference proceedings, policy briefs, and research reports that address both global challenges and local development issues.

CRID Publishing upholds the highest standards of editorial integrity, peer review transparency, and open access dissemination. Its flagship journals—including the Journal of Research Innovation and Development (JRID)—serve as collaborative hubs for researchers, educators, policymakers, and practitioners from around the world.

Through its publishing initiatives, CRID actively contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encourages academic capacity building, and fosters partnerships between institutions, disciplines, and communities.

Committed to inclusivity, CRID Publishing provides opportunities for early-career researchers, scholars from developing countries, and underrepresented academic voices to engage with global academic networks. With a growing portfolio and global reach, CRID Publishing is helping shape the future of research communication in the Global South and beyond.

History and Development of CRID Publishing (2017–Present)

CRID Publishing, established in 2017 under the umbrella of the Center for Research Innovation and Development (CRID), has emerged as a dynamic and mission-driven academic publishing platform in Bangladesh. Founded with a vision to foster a culture of high-quality research and evidence-based knowledge dissemination, CRID Publishing was created to serve as a bridge between innovative research and its application in solving real-world challenges—locally, regionally, and globally.

From its modest beginnings, CRID Publishing set out to provide accessible, ethical, and impactful avenues for researchers, scholars, practitioners, and students to publish and share their findings. At a time when many early-career researchers in Bangladesh and other developing nations faced significant barriers to publication—such as limited access to indexed journals, high article processing charges (APCs), and a lack of mentorship—CRID Publishing offered an inclusive and affordable platform to promote quality research without the financial burden or academic gatekeeping.

Foundational Goals and Mission

The primary mission of CRID Publishing has always been to support interdisciplinary research, promote South-South collaboration, and elevate the voices of scholars from underrepresented regions. This mission is guided by core values: academic integrity, inclusiveness, innovation, transparency, and societal impact.

By prioritizing these values, CRID Publishing has committed itself to:

Upholding rigorous peer-review and editorial standards,

Supporting open-access publishing models,

Encouraging multilingual and multidisciplinary contributions,

Promoting equity in research publication.

Early Milestones (2017–2020)

In its formative years, CRID Publishing launched a series of initiatives to build a credible academic presence. The organization introduced its flagship platform for research dissemination through small-scale monographs, conference proceedings, and policy papers.

Among the earliest journals launched during this period was the CRID Working Paper Series, which offered researchers an opportunity to share pre-publication drafts of their work for peer commentary. It quickly became a collaborative space for discourse in public policy, development studies, and applied research.

By 2019, CRID Publishing had successfully published several edited volumes and partnered with national academic institutions to host policy dialogues and research symposiums. These events not only generated publishable content but also helped build a research network that would later feed into the journal ecosystem.

Growth and Institutionalization (2020–2022)

With growing recognition, CRID Publishing took strategic steps toward institutionalizing its operations. It adopted formal editorial boards, established a double-blind peer-review policy, and moved toward digital-first publishing. A dedicated editorial team was formed, and online submission and review systems were introduced to ensure quality control, speed, and author support.

The introduction of the Journal of Research Innovation and Development (JRID) in 2021 marked a major turning point. JRID was conceptualized as a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that aligned with CRID’s broader vision of linking research to innovation and development outcomes. Its broad scope—ranging from engineering, health, and agriculture to social sciences, policy, and education—quickly attracted a diverse readership and contributor base.

By the end of 2022, CRID Publishing had published works by scholars from over 15 countries, and had formed collaborative partnerships with institutions in South Asia, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Innovation and Expansion (2023–2025)

In recent years, CRID Publishing has intensified its focus on digital transformation, academic indexing, and internationalization. The journal JRID has applied for inclusion in Google Scholar, DOAJ, Crossref, and other scholarly indexing platforms to enhance discoverability and citation potential.

Key innovations introduced since 2023 include:

Use of DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) for all articles to ensure persistent citation.

Cross-platform access through mobile-friendly and responsive websites.

Integration of ORCID IDs to support author identity and publication tracking.

Enhanced author support, including pre-submission consultation, editorial mentoring, and language editing services.

CRID Publishing has also prioritized research ethics by aligning its policies with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, promoting transparency in authorship, conflict of interest declarations, and post-publication corrections.

In 2024, CRID introduced thematic special issues in JRID, covering topics like climate resilience, digital education, and social innovation in the Global South. These issues garnered strong engagement from international researchers and enhanced the journal’s thematic visibility.

Impact and the Road Ahead

CRID Publishing has played a transformative role in democratizing research publication for scholars in developing countries. By lowering barriers to publication and maintaining international standards, CRID has helped amplify research that is often overlooked by mainstream journals.

Looking forward, CRID Publishing aims to:

Launch new discipline-specific journals in health sciences, education, and technology,

Expand its editorial board to include global scholars and practitioners,

Host annual academic writing workshops and editorial training programs,

Collaborate with international universities and consortia to support knowledge exchange.

In a publishing landscape often dominated by commercial interests and academic silos, CRID Publishing stands out as a values-driven, mission-led, and community-centered initiative—one that continues to grow while remaining grounded in the ethos of inclusive, innovation-oriented scholarship.
